What we do

From a new repository to rescuing an old one, done by developers who know DSpace inside out.

Installation and setup

The latest DSpace installed on your server: backend, the Angular interface, Solr search and PostgreSQL, secured and configured.

Upgrade from old DSpace

DSpace 6 and older no longer get security updates. We upgrade to the latest release with your items, handles and statistics kept.

Migration

Content brought in from EPrints, other repositories, spreadsheets or folders, with metadata mapped and checked.

Custom theme

A repository that looks like your institution: your colours, logo and home page, mobile-friendly and upgrade-safe.

Metadata, forms and workflows

Submission forms, metadata fields, review steps, communities and collections set up the way your library works.

Integrations

ORCID, LDAP or Shibboleth login, DOIs through DataCite or Crossref, and Google Scholar indexing checks.

Bulk import

Large batches of theses, back files or digitised material loaded in one go, with metadata checked.

Training and support

Training for administrators, librarians and submitters on Google Meet, short guides, and help after launch.

Publishing journals or books too?

DSpace keeps and shares your research outputs. For journals we work with OJS, and for books with OMP.

Your server, your accounts. DSpace runs on a server in your institution's name (Linux, Java, PostgreSQL and Solr). We give you the exact requirements, set it up and look after DSpace on it. We don't sell hosting.

Questions

What is DSpace, and who is it for?

DSpace is free, open-source software for institutional repositories: a searchable, permanent home for theses, research papers, reports, datasets and digital collections. It suits universities, colleges, research institutes, libraries and government bodies.

Which DSpace version do you install?

The latest stable release at the time of your project, with the modern Angular interface. We advise you on the right version and keep it up to date.

We run an old DSpace (5 or 6). Can you upgrade it?

Yes. DSpace 6 and older no longer get security updates, so upgrading matters. We take a full backup, move your items, files, handles and statistics to the latest release, and check everything before switching over.

Can you move our content from another system?

Yes. We migrate from EPrints, other repositories, spreadsheets or folders: metadata mapped to Dublin Core or your custom fields, files loaded and checked, collections organised.

How long does it take?

A basic installation takes 2 to 3 weeks. A standard setup with a custom theme, workflows and training usually takes 4 to 6 weeks, and complex projects 8 to 12 weeks. Migrations can add 2 to 4 weeks depending on the volume. Your quote has the timeline.

Can DSpace match our branding and processes?

Yes. Custom theme, submission forms, metadata fields, review workflows, embargo rules and access control can all be set to your needs, kept upgrade-safe.

What integrations are possible?

ORCID for researchers, LDAP or Shibboleth for institutional login, DOIs through DataCite or Crossref, OAI-PMH for harvesting, and checks so Google Scholar indexes your items properly.

What server does DSpace need?

A Linux server with Java, PostgreSQL and Solr, plus Node.js for the interface. Memory and storage depend on your content; we give you exact requirements before you buy, in your institution's name.

How much does it cost?

DSpace itself is free, with no licence fees. Our work is quoted after a free consultation, with one fixed price plus 18% GST. DOI services such as DataCite or Crossref, if you use them, are paid by you directly to them.

Do you provide hosting?

No. We don't sell hosting. DSpace runs on a server in your institution's name; we tell you what it needs, set it up, and look after DSpace on it.
